Sight prevention

Sight prevention

Our idea is to provide a continuous and comprehensive prevention program, with the goal of helping to fight the bad habits that children contract at school and that are often due to excessive eye strain.

We want to help parents learn about the main visual problems, what are their difficulties and what events may be produced, especially during the school work, reading and writing.

A bad posture, wrong holding of a pen and the structuring of an unsuitable visual environment may be causing the child’s needs of a very high amount of visual resources that, in order to be sustained, requires high energy consumption and this generally leads to an inefficient visual.

Proper posture allows the passage of harmonic and economic condition of the static ( distance vision ) to dynamic ( for near vision ), allowing the visual system to put the child in the most appropriate condition to be able to learn to the best of his ability.

We want to look far, because they can do the same!

Some signs to reduce visual stress

Look up

At regular intervals, both children ( and adults ) need to lift his eyes from close work they are doing and look to a distant point for a few seconds. In this way the visual system relaxes and maintains flexibility .

Proper lighting

The lighting in the workplace should be three times greater than the illumination of the rest of the room. Do not read with a single lamp in a dark room .

Grip in writing

In writing you have to hold the pen or pencil 2 cm. from the tip, to see it and slide it to the side without moving head and body. To slide the pen do not need arm and shoulder but your fingers only!

UV protection from childhood

A good eye protection, which begins in early childhood, is a better guarantee of healthy sight. Most children are not wearing sunglasses. It is important to emphasize that there is a cumulative effect of the absorption of UV light in the eye. It is therefore essential to provide the child with a UV protection as soon as possible. The use of photochromic lenses will block 100% of harmful UV rays and helps preserve the health and well-being of children’s eyes.

Television

The TV should be watched while seated properly and the room with diffused light, so as not to cause glare on the screen. The correct distance is dependent on the type of TV, CRT or Plasma or LCD panel. In the case of CRT type TV viewing distance is equivalent to about 7 times the screen diagonal. This distance is reduced to 2.3 times in the case of LCD or plasma screen HD, and 1.5 times the screen is Full HD. Children should look at a few hours a day to devote to more outdoor activities and develop in this way more visual capabilities.

Physiological reading Distance

The optimal distance for reading, writing, working closely corresponds to that between the first knuckle of the middle finger and elbow. Our body is an indivisible and must act in harmony with the various components.

The reading in the car is not recommended

Reading in a state of movement, such as in a car, heavy burden the visual system that must coordinate different inputs in order to maintain focus on the fixation point .

Keep your back straight

Chest out, shoulders back, sit properly using chairs and work plan in proportion to body size in order to facilitate the maintenance of a visual- postural balance.

Visual discomfort during activities closely

Often, only one correction is not the best for all distances. Appropriate lenses closely improve visual efficiency and facilitate the yield during the study.

Avoid extended positions

When you read or watch TV you should sit or lie down properly and avoid positions bent forward or to the side. It is difficult to maintain distance and balanced view while lying on the bed and sofa.

Remove any reflections

It is advisable to always keep in mind the peripheral perception of the room and avoid fatiguing contrasts.
